An Add on to my Searching Universe ~~ Buck moved as if to turn around and face him, but before he could, a bright white light flashed, blocking Eddie's vision. Something shoved him, a hot burning erupting on his palms as he went airborne and flew off the truck. He landed hard, his breath rushing out and his back throbbing with ache. But all that paled in comparison to the white hot searing that filled his soul. The mark on his neck burned as if someone had taken a poker, heated it cherry red, and then shoved it against his skin.

An add on to my Searching Universe "Whats wrong?" Eddie asked tersely, his knee pressed against Buck's. The doctor looked down at her paperwork and said, "Now, remember, there's no guarantees right now. That's why we ordered extra tests." Buck and Eddie nodded, Buck focusing his eyes on Calida who'd started dozing off in his lap. He felt a soft pulse of reassurance come from Eddie through the bond, Buck taking a slow breath that wasn't heard under the rustling of the doctors papers. "We found an abnormal protein in Miss Calida's blood work. It could be minor, something that she just needs antibiotics for for a short time, but we don't want to rule out anything until we know for sure. "Now, do either of you have a history of, cancer, in your family?" The doctor asked softly, trying to lessen the blow but the careful word still punched Buck in the gut. ~~~~~ Buck gets a call from the twins' pediatrician, and such a small thing brings a spiral of news and upset that Buck and Eddie are struggling to accept.

Buck looking down at where Eddie had wrapped both of his hands around Buck's fingers. He sat there quietly a moment, studying Eddie's hands. They were calloused, bigger than Buck's. They'd held him after the bombing, after the well, after the tsunami, after the shooting. They'd brought him back to life after the lightning, restarted his heart. Their whole life together could be told with those hands. From the very first handshake when they swore to have each other's backs, to Eddie grabbing him and pointing at him in anger and yet Buck never felt an ounce of fear. He flipped his hand over slowly, ignoring the burn of the scrapes on his palm.
