Frank Iero is an 18 year old boy with an intense fear of human contact. He never wants to be touched, and when he is admitted to a sanitarium with a special ward for people with intense phobias, it's a nightmare come true. People touching him, studying him, learning how he operates. Then he meets a nurse named Gerard, and for the first time, when Gerard puts his fingers on Frank's skin, he doesn't feel like a bomb is going off in his stomach, he feels fireworks in his heart.
