Victoria Biggs never wanted to stand out. She was always Hugh and Claire Biggs' shy little sister. She carried pieces of both of them inside her - the good grades and sharp mind of her older brother, and the soft smile that could light up a room even when she doubted everything, just like her older sister. On her first day at Tommen, she walked in filled with nerves, insecurities, and the quiet hope that maybe she could finally start over. The last thing she expected was to end up sitting next to Tadhg Lynch: a boy who, unfortunately for her, was careless, sarcastic, failing most of his classes, and completely uninterested in her... or in school, or in anything that resembled a healthy, normal life.
Tadhg Lynch only wants to survive Tommen and go back home to shut himself away. He doesn't believe school is worth the effort, doesn't believe in second chances, and definitely doesn't believe in stupid bets that tie him to people he never wanted to know. But Victoria doesn't give up on him - because she knows there's more inside him that's worth fighting for. Without even realizing it, she becomes the only person who sees past the walls he's built around himself.
Between shared classes, awkward silences, painful misunderstandings, and impossible bets, they're pulled into a connection neither of them ever saw coming. Jealousy, distance, mistakes, and old wounds push them apart right when they need each other the most. While Victoria carries losses that slowly quiet her from the inside out, Tadhg learns that running away isn't always the answer.
In a place filled with memories, they'll both have to face the truth - about what they feel, and what they've lost - to find out whether some promises... and some loves... are actually worth it.
