guys please don't read this anymore lmao i write totally differently now💋 _________________ In a future where humans are genetically modified -- 'altered' -- at the age of sixteen, the world has been, until now, a safe place. Without changing a person's personality, undergoing the Alteration perfects their appearance, IQ, and even their immunity to diseases. No human passes the age of sixteen without being Altered. In the blink of an eye, things change. An ominous message is sent out to all of those below the age of sixteen, providing precise instructions that suggest they flee. Simultaneously, a deadly virus starts to spread all about the world, attacking only the Altered -- every human over the age of sixteen. The virus eats at the modified human brain, and soon the Unaltered begin to realise that the Altered are losing their minds. Home is no longer safe. Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Set on a pristine, futuristic Earth, this is the apocalypse like you've never seen it before. (Rated mature for graphic depictions of violence and mild language.) The world had never seen such chaos. It started subtly, whispers of a new virus spreading in distant corners of the globe. At first, it seemed like just another outbreak, contained by the swift response of medical teams and governments. But then, it mutated. What began as a simple infection quickly spiraled into an unstoppable pandemic, turning friends, family, and neighbors into mindless, ravenous creatures. As cities fell into darkness and society crumbled, the survivors were left to navigate a world teetering on the brink of extinction. Among them, a disparate group of individuals emerged, each with their own story of loss, survival, and hope. Little did they know that their paths would converge in the fight for humanity's future, as they faced not only the undead hordes but also the darkest aspects of human nature. In the midst of despair, a glimmer of resilience flickered-a determination to defy the odds and reclaim what was lost. But as the sun set on civilization, casting long shadows over a world forever changed, the question remained: would they emerge victorious, or would they become just another footnote in the annals of history?

'Zombie'- a fictional word made by humans for those who are infected by a virus. But who could tell that this so called virus would appear in real life but in a different form with even more horrifying truth and theory. __________ It was meant to be a day filled with laughter and catching up on old times, as Att, Kei, and Naveah reunited with each other. However, their joyous moment was abruptly cut short when they faced the first chaos. Within moments, everything turned into a part of a horrific plague, where they desperately attempted to get out of the situation, thinking it was like any other Zombie apocalypse they've seen on screens. But the reality turned out even more cruel and terrifying than they expected. Since it turned out to be entirely different from the word 'zombie'. In the midst of all the death and life they met another ally, who was about to become a cherished part of their group. With each passing day, they huddled together in different moments, towards a dead end of cruelty. [The story is based on the true theory of Alfred Russel in 1859]

Highest ranked- #10 in action 2/16/2017 A promotion. That's all I wanted. I didn't want to run for my life. I didn't want to be kidnapped. I didn't want to face death. I didn't want to find out my whole life was a lie. I just wanted a bloody promotion. Guess fate had other plans? **** The cold air fanned over my face as I opened the door. The exit door lead to the back of the building so it was pitch black. I leaned against the wall trying to control myself. Blood was running down my arm and head. My hair was stuck to my face from all the sweat and blood. Everything was spinning around me and the ground seemed like it was shaking. Groaning I sat down and put my head on my knees. He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. I heard the opening of a car and the next thing I knew I was being thrown into a car. My head hit the hard leather seat and the door shut behind me. Maybe this is how my life will end. Maybe I should just let it happen. Maybe I was destined to die alone as a no one. With that I let the darkness consume me.

The world didn't end all at once-it unraveled slowly. Quietly. While no one was looking. Neve, a introverted 17 year old, was always good at noticing things. The way her neighbors' pets started vanishing. The way the news anchors stumbled over their words. The way her school suddenly cared about checking students for "fevers" but never offered explanations. Still grieving her mother and lost in the silence of her own home, Neve watches as the world slips further from normal-until the night the power goes out. Until the night she sees a man, gaunt and bloodied, standing in her backyard. Watching her. After that, everything falls apart. As cities burn and the dead walk the streets, Neve is forced from the quiet life she knew into a fractured world ruled by survival, instinct, and impossible questions. Who can be trusted? What do the revenants-the "turned"-still remember? And how much of yourself can you lose before you're no longer human? Alongside Jace, a guarded 19 year old, a boy with his own shadows, Neve walks a path littered with broken people, fading memories, and echoes of a past that refuses to stay buried. Her journal becomes a guide, her sketches a record of what the world used to be-and what might still be worth saving.. She meets people. She loses them. She learns to trust, and she learns to grieve. But most importantly-she survives.

Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. But in some ways, I'm glad you're not a part of it. I just wish it wasn't like this. *** TRIGGER WARNING*** SA, abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and mental illness. This is a complete story that is much like life; fast, full of surprises, and not always how we want it to be. This has been a project of mine for over three years. It was self-published on Amazon, but after some issues in publication, I decided to just upload it on here. I hope you fall in love with these characters like I have. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community. As in any coming of age story, they will experience growing pains... but will they survive them before its too late? PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS.
