She walked quickly to the kitchen, and made a show of taking coffee from the tube. The cup was suddenly too hot, and it slipped, only for a hand to support it from the bottom. Rare's eyes moved to Saint's blue ones.
"Zade? I mean..." She broke off, her cheek heating.
Saint softly helped her place the cup on the table, as the maids scrambled around to clean the mess. Rare blinked when he took her hand in his and, and rose it to his lips, pecking it lightly as though it would will the scar away.
"You shouldn't be in here," she whispered.
He ignored her, taking the blue towel from the counter and softly cleaning the coffee on her hand. "Rare, why did you marry him?"
"What?"
He shrugged, and Rare felt her cheeks heat. "You heard me. I don't get it. You're an intelligent woman, and can get any man you want. Why did you settle for my asshole brother, hm?"
"You don't have a right to ask me that because you walked away from my life those years ago. You never fought for me," she said, snatching her hand back. "And, your brother was there. He made sure that I never felt your absence, Zade."
Rare blinked as Saint stepped forward, crowding her space. His fingers tapped her lips softly, causing her eyes to go wide. "You were always an awful liar, Rare," he pointed out. And, he leaned over, his lips an inch away from hers.
'Kiss me,' she thought.
My name is Rare Nora Combs, and I'm supposed to be happily married to Jacob, but I'm not. Saint is the key to my freedom, but he is sin itself. And, I honestly want that sin forever and ever.
