This story takes place after season 4 with some changes of course. The group temporarily defeats Vecna but in nowhere close to finishing him off. Hawkins is abandoned in fear of it collapsing again. The government deems the group unsafe because wherever they go Vecna follows. The group is placed in a house outside of Hawkins to start over fresh.... or at least that's what they're told.
