But one day Lucas and Max get invited to a party. One that Lucas gets completely wasted at. He kisses another girl completely drunk and max finds him in action. She gets so upset that she runs off to her dad in CA. But Lucas knows he did wrong and is going to do everything to get her back.

After the Snow Ball and the long, chaotic summer of '83, Max Mayfield is finally learning to stop running. Hawkins is her home now, whether she likes it or not, and for the first time, she's starting to embrace it. No more hiding, no more trying to escape-this is her life, and she's determined to make it hers. This story follows Max as she navigates life in Hawkins, from the quiet moments of self-discovery to the excitement, drama, and challenges of her new friendships. Readers will get a behind-the-scenes look at her relationships with everyone in the party, especially Lucas-how they came together, how they grew, and what it really means to fall in love in a town where danger and chaos are never far away. Max must learn to deal with her complicated family, including her stepfather Neil, and confront the shadows of her past in California while figuring out who she truly wants to be. This is during season 5, in filling in the blanks Of what didn't happen. Who we didn't get a reunion with (Dustin, El, Etc) and just things I imagine happening. I'm gonna write the stuff that happened in the show, just saying what I think their internal dialogue would be saying. First two chapters made before the finale. (Warning) mild swearing and medical equipment being used on Max, non-sexual nudity in a medical/caregiving context. This is probably the last summer where everyone is in Hawkins at the same time, with nowhere important to be and no real responsibilities yet. Once college starts, everything changes. Different schools, different cities, different lives. Some of them are excited. Some of them are terrified. Most of them are both. They talk about majors and dorms and what they'll miss, but they avoid talking about goodbyes. It feels too final, like saying it out loud might make it happen faster. Max and Lucas are in the middle of it all, and somehow, being together makes everything feel easier. Sitting side by side, joking about nothing, driving around with the windows down, it's like the rest of the world slows down for them. They have each other, and right now, that's enough.
