India had won her freedom, but for those left in its wake, the battle had only begun.
Set in the backdrop of a middle-class family trying to survive after the loss of their loved ones in the war of independence, Kanak finds herself engaged with a man in a marriage she had no will in.
Seeing her family already suffering enough to give them her share too, she decided to get married anyway. Leaving back her past with her lover who she knew would never be able to marry her due to societal barriers, she shrugs into the fire of life with Ashwik Agarwal, a man she knew nothing of.
Her life turned upside down when Kanak found herself in a loveless marriage torn between her heart that craved love and her mind that was strict with the principles of life.
But is that all she has to offer? Is that the only value she can give away to life, by being the responsible woman of the house? To become yet another nameless woman swallowed by tradition?
Through Kanak's eyes, 'Majboor: Na Hum Na Tum' explores the invisible chains of post-independence India where freedom was won, but true liberation was yet to come.
