His voice was deadly calm as he spoke, his words chilling the blonde to the bone. "I am far braver than you will ever be. You sit in your golden castle and judge my homeland, but what have you ever done that meant a single thing? You have no idea what it takes to wake up every morning and choose to survive. You cannot understand the things I have sacrificed to stand before you today. I have built wall after wall to keep air in my lungs-carving away parts of myself with each and every breath I take. You were born into a gilded cage, but I was forged from iron. It is not cowardice that makes me wait, it is strength that you could never imagine."

The Second Giant War was gruesome. With only 3 of the 7 left alive, they demigods of prophecy left the camps. They were unable, or maybe just unwilling, to be in the places where their friends once walked. They chose to escape the world of demigods while they still could. They wanted to try for normal so that maybe, one day, they could forget any of it ever happened. They wanted peace and safety. Nico... well, Nico had other ways of coping. ------------- Nico had had a long life. 16 years old, plus however many had passed in that cured casino had left little joy in his life. He had lost his grandparents, his mother, Bianca, his friends, and then Hazel... he missed her more than he could bare. He only knew his sister for around a year before he had lost her, and not a single day had passed in the last two years that he hadn't thought of her. He couldn't go to either camp or the underworld without feeling like his chest would explode from the pain. He knew she was in a better place. Her and Frank were in Elysium with Jason, Piper, and the rest of the heroes that died in the wars. She was at peace. Maybe she had even managed meet his mother and they were watching him now... though he honestly hoped they weren't.
