For years, dragonkind and humankind had been at war, alternating between short-lived truces and all out warfare. In this age, however, humankind had subdued the proud dragonkind and turned them into slaves. Brands seared into their arms with the mark of a weeping dragon; the symbol of their defeat. Darin vehemently hated the mistreatment of the dragonkind, and when a branded runaway boy crossed his path, he made him his apprentice to protect him. Something had to be done. But in a strange turn of events, Darin found himself the leader of a peculiar band of travelers: His new apprentice, a brooding warrior, and an elven healer. Although he rarely traveled with others, he began to enjoy it as a long-term arrangement as days turned into weeks. Yet Amaredeia was still healing its war-ravaged wounds, and the cries of rebellion and anguish rose again. Could he really continue denying the calls of his apprentice's people? Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, men and fae lived side by side. These were often dark times, as men had little means to defend themselves from the powerful creatures capable of destroying villages in mere seconds. Through bloody battle and tough negotiations with the High Faerie nobility, an agreement of sorts had been reached: A Treaty. Men on the southern half of the continent, Faeries on the top half. Plain and simple... Until it isn't. Ella Blackwell has duties. Insurmountable, crushing duties. As the Duke's daughter, she's been born and raised to accomplish what all women in Rhothomir's high society are meant to do-marry well, secure an alliance, and bear the perfect heirs to continue traditions. Except, Ella's not really the perfect blue-blooded aristocrat she's expected to be. In the midst of rising political tensions between the Kingdom of Rhothomir and Fae Realm, and a blooming war, Ella finds her life completely upended from one moment to the next, ripped away from everything she's ever known. Follow along for a High Fantasy adventure full of Faerie royalty, courtly intrigue, backstabbing nobles, political schemes, steel-strong friendship and love.

❝poisonous fangs can only reap poisonous fruit.❞ Nerluce - named for light - dwells in darkness. It was forged from the shadows of the great beasts, who flash their cruel fangs and crueler insults, who seek to choke the light from his chest with their iron chains, who despise all who are not like them. Disdain for gods and men is made in dim places. Hunger for ruin is cultivated on a starving stomach. Power for destruction is rarely given but when it is, oh, the world will burn. Karlie walked numbly and quietly. She shivered as she was barefoot in the deep snow as the king's son and the high priest marched her to the sacred grove. Tonight she would be sacrificed to appease the dragon. The entire community walked with her, some weeping others laughing and taunting. They carried burning torches to light the misty darkens that surrounded them. Karlie stood tall as she walked refusing to display the terror she felt. She was dressed in her new red dress she had sewn for her wedding, a day that now would never come. Soon all would be stripped away and her life taken.
