LIMINAL - existing in between states (identity, family, morality).
Between who you were told you are and who your blood insists you've always been.
That's how Mazikeen feels. Liminal.
Mazikeen has never belonged to anything except survival. Raised without a family, without a past she trusted, she learned early not to care about things like lineage or home. Those were weaknesses. Sentiment got you killed.
Then a car crash rips the truth open.
She isn't an orphan. She was stolen.
The De Luca family-powerful, dangerous, and sworn enemies of the world that raised her-didn't even know they'd lost a daughter until years later, when her face appeared beside Mara De Luca's. Her mother. With no certainty and nothing but blood tests and instinct, they searched anyway.
They never expected to find her fifteen years later.
They never expected to already know her.
Because Mazikeen has crossed paths with them before. She's fought one of her brothers more times than she can count-both of them trying to kill the other, never realizing they shared the same blood they drew. Now she's forced to live under the same roof as him. Alongside a father she doesn't know, and four brothers who don't know what to do with her.
And the worst part?
She fits.
But the life she came from doesn't let go so easily. Her past stalks her like a shadow, violent and familiar, and Mazikeen finds herself unwilling to outrun it. Torn between what she was shaped into and what she was meant to be, she remains suspended in the in-between.
Liminal.
And if she has to choose, she's not sure she wants to be saved at all.
