Before we start!! Just wanted to say real quick that I've actually had this story sitting in my drafts for about a year now, so that's why I'm able to upload parts pretty fast. Also,comments are very much appreciated, I love reading them <3 This is a Stranger Things fanfic centered around Jane (Eleven) and Maxine. The story takes place in 1989, and the party members are around 16-17 years old at the start. This fic is mostly fluff, with a little bit of angst here and there -nothing super heavy. There will be spice and some smut later on, so just a heads up The story starts in late summer break, before school begins. School will be part of the story eventually, just not right away. This is a full AU: -Jane has no powers -The bad men don't exist -The Upside Down doesn't exist So basically... Hawkins is just Hawkins The Jane x Max relationship is a slow burn that turns into something really sweet, healthy, and affectionate. And yes ,this story has a happy ending, so don't stress about that Quick note: I changed the ages a bit, so if I accidentally say "junior year" anywhere, just know I mean senior year. And yes, I know some of the characters might not act exactly like they do in the show - this is a fanfic and very much my AU, so please don't take it too seriously. El has her powers, Hopper and Billy are alive, the mall is still there and the Upside Down exists but there are no supernatural issues per se (yay). Hawkins, Indiana. 1985. El Hopper has spent her entire life never really knowing who she is. She was taken from her mother and forced to live inside a lab as a human test experiment until the age of eleven due to her psychokinetic abilities. After escaping, she made friends and found a family, as well as saving the world a couple times too. Now she's almost fourteen and she's living the teenage dream that she deserves. She's finally free of her annoying boyfriend Mike and she's got a new best friend Max. Max is outgoing and fun and everything El wants to be. She's also...really pretty. As the summer spirals out of control and the two become even closer friends than before, will they find something more than friendship? And if they do...what does that mean?

Max has been feeling really odd around her best friend, El. She loves her more than she's ever loved anyone or anything, ever- as a friend, of course. These feelings are crushing Max to pieces, and she doesn't know what to do about it. *(Guys, they're not actually just going to be friends.
