Freya and MK have always been a package deal. Not because they're the same, because they're not. MK is loud, protective, sarcastic, and the kind of brother who acts like nothing bothers him even when everything does. Freya is quieter, sharper than people expect, and used to living in the shadow of MK's huge personality. Sleepovers, family dinners, late-night drives, stupid inside jokes, holidays where he basically becomes part of the furniture. He's not just MK's best friend anymore; he's practically family. Which is exactly why MK made one rule from the beginning. "Do not date my sister." At first, Malachi laughed it off. Freya rolled her eyes. MK acted like he was joking. But everyone knew he wasn't. Because MK knows Malachi better than anyone. He knows the flirty comments, the smirks, the reputation, the way Malachi can make someone feel like they're the only person in the room. And even though MK trusts him with almost everything, Freya is the one thing he refuses to risk. So the rule stays.

Freya and Malachi agree on two things and two things only: They do not get along. And they HATE each other At all. So naturally, their coaches put them on the same team. Forced into combined training, scratch matches, and way too much time on the same pitch, Freya is convinced Malachi is the most annoying person alive. Malachi thinks Freya is infuriating. Malachi and Freya have been friends for as long as they can remember From Malachi comforting Freya the first time she had to leave him to go on vacation, to the first time Freya comforted Malachi when he lost his first soccer game... 12 years later and there still the best of friends if not closer. Everyone said they'd get married one day but they only ever viewed each other as brother and sister, without the annoyance siblings get of each other, of course. They loved each other more than they loved anyone else, but they only ever thought that was just their friendship. Until the hugs become longer, the "I love you" starts to feel even more real, and the innocent cheek kisses started giving each other butterflies everytime they'd kiss each other on the cheek. Is it just them getting older or something else..? Something deeper than friendship?
