He's distant, rarely comes to visit her, and barely ever mentions his relationship with her outside of dates Amy plans for them. Shadow the Hedgehog is widely seen as a loner hedgehog that no one outside a few people can interact with successfully. The Ultimate Lifeform is still haunted by his past visions of Maria, his best friend, and granddaughter of Gerald Robotnik. He doesn't enjoy being around people, particularly Sonic due to his annoyingly enthusiastic personality contrasting to his own serious, focused one. From my most popular one shot series, We All Have Problems has been deemed worthy enough to have a full novel adaptation! Shadow suffers from severe PTSD, and a whole cast of other mental illnesses that make him violent and dangerous, and causes him to disassociate completely. If that weren't enough, he refuses to speak to anyone after GUN admitted him to a mental health facility to "correct" his violent and uncontrollable behaviors. Sonic, a well liked psychiatrist, becomes his doctor. He works with Shadow to help him open up, to learn that he's more than someone broken. And to help him heal. But as Sonic uncovers secrets to Shadow's past, it seems like he'll have to do more than therapy to help him.

The nightmares were back. Just when Willow thought it safe to relax for the summer. A deadly force that has returned from slumber. An old enemy presumed to be dead. Now she and Team Sonic must fight to preserve the world they all cherish, uncovering stories of the past kept untold by GUN, fighting for their survival, and discovering buried family secrets. It had been a few months since Shadow the Hedgehog saved Earth from the Eclipse Cannon, and decided to uphold his promise to Maria; the promise of protecting Earth and everyone on it. Thanks to Sonic and Silver, Shadow has a little bit of confidence in himself despite his self-loathing, as he believes himself to be an experiment gone deadly wrong that was meant to be the Ultimate Lifeform. The mysterious hero of a hedgehog holds Maria, his deceased friend, very close to himself with in his heart. On a cold, rainy night, Shadow met up with Heaven Kingston, and the young vampire reminds Shadow of Maria, his sisterly-friend who died tragically onboard Space Colony ARK. Shadow soon forms a bond with Heaven that is exactly like the one he had with Maria, and he makes a promise to Heaven's mother, Skylah: protect Heaven, as well as her sister Oaklynn, while keeping her innocence safe. Shadow then takes it upon himself to babysit Heaven and Oaklynn whenever he has the time.

Having their home already inhabited by Sonic, Tails and Knuckles is already stressful... but when Tom and Maddie adopt Shadow the Hedgehog, things get a LOT more interesting...
