Content Warning This story contains sensitive topics and explicit scenes from Chapter 9 onward. Please read with care. ⚠️ Romance with explicit content - Chapters 9, 10, and 12 (Mira & Vessel). Disclaimer This is a fictional story inspired by the aesthetic and concept of Sleep Token. It has no connection to the real people behind the masks. Names, traits, and events are made up. Please respect the band members' privacy. This is a work of imagination - not a portrayal of real lives. Note on Language Originally written in German. Mira's inner voice reflects that. Dialogues with the band are in English. While this version is fully translated, I hope the original tone and emotional atmosphere remain intact. "The Shadow We Worship" A Sleep Token Fanfiction A fleeting livestream. A strange message. And an encounter with a masked stranger that changes everything. Mira leads a quiet life - caught between art school, her sketchbook, and the noise of the big city. Until one day, a mysterious stranger reaches out to her. He wears a mask. He reveals almost nothing about himself. And yet something about him pulls her in. It begins with a mask she designs for him - and ends in a storm of intimacy, obsession, longing, and something greater than both of them: a supernatural presence that has been watching her all along. Caught between reality and delirium, between desire and danger, Mira is drawn into a world where art is sacred, love demands sacrifice - and shadows speak. A story about control and surrender. About two people who recognize each other long before they meet. And about the darkness that shapes us - if we let it.

Ava, a talented photographer, agrees to cover a concert for the rising band Sleep Token. Little did she know that her encounter with the enigmatic lead singer, Vessel, would leave her questioning reality and change her forever. This is my first story. As you tread through the words I've written, remember: Nothing is true, everything is permitted. While this story draws inspiration from a band rooted in reality, I think of them as mere phantoms, characters of my design, so I can shape their destiny as I see fit. We will not discuss any real identity in this story, and I do not recommend you pursue that, respecting their wish to remain anonymous. Disclaimer: This story has +18 content. Don't read it if you're not +18.

'Do you remember me when the rain gathers?' Quiet, tall and slightly awkward in the way that made you think twice before looking away. But when he played, God, when he played. It was like the room listened. Music is the language he speaks most fluently, half-improvised chords, half-unspoken thoughts. Too sharp to be forgettable, too soft to demand attention. He didn't expect to be heard. He was never meant to be seen. And then Eden saw him anyway. (This story is entirely fictional, inspired by the music of Sleep Token. Told from dual perspectives - the 'man behind the mask' of Vessel. And Eden - the FMC. It explores a narrative detached from real-life identities or events. No real identities/names are ever mentioned or discussed. The events that happen are completely fictional. Everything within is purely a product of imagination.)

Making a deal with the God of Sleep wasn't exactly on my bingo card, but neither was getting caught up in a sacrificial ritual. The four men in masks saved me only to bring me to their own church of worship, telling me I can't go home because of the debt I owe. But a pact made long ago with the God and the one they call Vessel has me questioning my trust in them, especially when the standoff-ish Vessel of Sleep, the leader of the group, seems to know something I don't. The only way to learn the truth is to delve deeper into their lives, digging up my own buried past along with it... This is a slow burn romance mystery. Warning ⚠️: talk of suicide, murder, self harm and abuse along with sexual content. I also use swear words occasionally Word count: 85,661 Sequel: Telomeres
