Gerard doesn't quite understand why his hair turned completely white when he was only nine years old. There's a list of things he doesn't understand, such as why he can't leave the house after 6pm or why his mother was frantic to cover his hair when they went on family outings. He even wondered why he was pulled out of school after being neglected by all of his teachers. He just wasn't aware that he was a menace, a creative mind with too much power that was being brought into a ring of public shame. He was a Diff. Frank Iero, on the other hand, was a Same. He was a role model, the apple of his mothers eye and the ideal teenager that anyone could ever ask for. Yet, even the most perfect seeming person could have so many secrets that needed to be kept from the people like him. Frank's little secret just happened to be the fact that Gerard Way infatuated him.

Two boys hate each other to the very bone, but when one fight leads to a whole weak in isolation, they find themselves surviving through the fights hand in hand only to be torn apart by a large bump in the road. After his home is gone, Gerard and Mikey must flee from everything they know and the Killjoys take them in. There Gerard meets Frank, a heart attack in black hair dye with the most enchanting eyes. Gerard grows up and becomes a Killjoys fighter with a team, meeting and losing other Killjoys. He helps fight against the Society and BL/ind from suppressing art and individuality. The story starts with Gerard at 10 years old and continues as he grows up. The saga follows along with the music videos for Na Na Na & SING then continuing along with the Killjoy comic books and My Chemical Romance/Gerard Way songs.

The unholy union of a high school AU and a ghost story. But then he has to leave them behind, and start a whole new school, where his fights, his lateness and his lack of homework aren't as accepted. Even when he befriends the nerdy musical kid who has a crush on their music teacher - but knows that nothing will happen because it's very much illegal - things still seem to go wrong. Gerard, an awkward theater student is playing the lead role of the play. Thing is, the bad boy, Frank Iero is playing the lead role too.

((Basically this is one big messy gay bandom AU, features just about every ship in the emo trinity and a few more)) Frank is the only gay guy he knows, stuck in the rather restricting and conservative world of Catholic school with his two best friends and their Catholic upbringings, where his daily adrenaline hits come from smoking behind the art block with Jamia, who he reckons is on her path to being the next Lindsay Lohan. But then, things really do change, because perhaps Jamia's matchmaking abilities aren't quite as shitty as Frank reckons, and perhaps this 'social gathering' he's dragged along to, does have some benefit to him after all. And perhaps, Frank will draw a face to the name of Gerard - Mikey's older brother, who really despite living in the same town, is worlds away from the reality Frank's stuck in. And on the subject of the unlikely, will Mikey ever finally figure out that Alicia Simmons really doesn't give a fuck about croquet?
