And she definitely didn't expect to wake up in the world of Fourth Wing-the book that once kept her going through the darkest nights. But this isn't a dream. It's not fiction. And survival here demands more than knowledge of what's "supposed" to happen. Now living under the name Liora Emberveil, she tells herself this is a second chance. A chance to become someone stronger. Better. Someone worth something. She throws herself into the role of a fictional heroine; confident, brave, untouchable. But no matter how fast she runs, she can't outrun herself. Because the truth is: Lila didn't come here healed. She came here broken. She's anxious, self-destructive, and still carrying the weight of a life she didn't want to live. And the more she tries to control the story, the more it spirals. Every decision rewrites the future she thought she knew. Every connection threatens the mask she's carefully built. And when she catches the attention of Xaden Riorson-a man who sees too much-her carefully drawn lines begin to blur. If you're not who you were, and you're not who you pretend to be... then who are you? βοΈŽβ˜…If you enjoy this story on Wattpad but want options, it's also available on AO3! The Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College is the most boasted quadrant of them all. Also the most deadly. Kathrine Riorson has known for five years that this is where she'd end up, thanks to a desperate bargain made by her older brother the day their father was executed. Thrust into this new world where brutality and strength reign supreme right along side the giant fire-breathing dragons, Kitt will have to navigate through Conscription Day and Threshing. Through old memories and still-healing wounds. Through new friendships and new love. All the while an evil lurks just beneath the surface, threatening to destroy everything she has come to cherish. Kitt will be faced with demons both in the flesh and within her own mind. But Kitt is a Riorson. And she will not break easily. _____ "Anyone else feel like changing their mind?" Xaden shouts, casting his gaze out over the remaining cadets. "No? Excellent. Roughly half of you will be dead by this time next summer. A third of you again the year after that. And the same your last year." He briefly catches my gaze before moving on. "No one cares who your mommy or daddy is here." Unless your mommy or daddy sided with my father, then everyone cares. "Even King Tauri's second son died during his Threshing. So tell me again: Do you feel invincible now that you've made it into the Riders Quadrant? Untouchable? Elite?" This time no one cheers. "Because you're not untouchable or special to them." Xaden points a finger at the navy-blue dragon behind him and leans forward slightly, and says, deadly calm, "To them, you're just the prey." I swallow the lump in my throat. He's trying to scare us, they all are, so the dragons know who to pick off. But I will not let any of them win. I may not have had a choice in coming to the Riders Quadrant, but now that I'm here, the only way I'm leaving is on the back of a dragon.

Illena Draekar had no idea why she applied to be a dragon rider. She had her reasons, of course. But her reasons were a secret, and Illena was so full of them that she didn't know anymore what was a secret and what was just a fact. She had a plan, that was a fact. But the plan itself was a secret. The war was getting worse, that was a fact, and was also a fact that Illena was the one to blame for that. Which war? That was a secret. Why she was the one to blame? Also a secret. Why she had so many secrets and so many facts? Well, that's a secret. But I'll give you a fact: she thinks it's time to fight. And what better place to begin than Basgiath? The marked ones were there. The dragons were there, the professors, the weapons, the lies, the reasons, they were all there. The only thing she did not expect to be there was love. But love was for children, and Garrick surely wasn't one. Illena may have fallen in love with him, anyway. But that was a secret as well. And also a fact. (This is a Fourth Wing fanfiction, the characters and the story belongs to Rebecca Yarros, only the main character, Illena, is original)

She becomes aware of the fact that she is living in the Empyrean Series and still holds the previous May Melgren's memories. Having no choice but to enroll in the Riders Quadrant, she sets out to protect the characters she so cared for. ______ "What did you wish for?" I ask him. "Isn't the point of a wish to only be heard by the gods?" He counters, with a cunning smile. "I guess that's true, sorry, I just got curious." I look down at my feet as we enter inside the citadel and walk to the dorms. "It's fine, maybe after it comes true, I'll tell you." "Okay but that's a promise, right?" We reach the front of the door. "Sure." A small chuckle passes through his lips. ______ Disclaimer: The characters and plot belong to Rebecca Yarros. My original characters and scenes belong to me. It was never a lie, Garrick, those memories we shared together were never from the book. We made them together. The baking, the lake, the stars. All of them. We shaped our future. So let's continue to do that. No book is going to tell you what you can or can't do." "I'll do it again. I'll win you over with all that I have." I could see the determination in his twinkling eyes. "C'mon Travesty." "Is that why you gave me that name? Am I absurd and distorted?" Three hundred years of riders. The Valkorin bloodline, renowned for boundless courage and valour, have always been assets to their wings as riders. Tierney learned not to fear death, nor the god of death who only takes what she prizes and never returns. As a Valkorin, honour and pride come before fear. However, while she does not fear for herself, she is terrified for the lives of her loved ones. Grief haunts her, a name she can never see the face of again, a constant reminder of her loss and her weakness. The Rider's Quadrant, where her brother was murdered, will she survive? He knew her, before he even saw her. His description is accurate to the point it's terrifying. Tierney, even without his description, Bodhi knew who she was, her wandering eyes, her walk, her beliefs-each detail resembles the man who saw his face before his relic. A single promise leads him to leap off a cliff, seeking to become boundless and see her once more, his Travesty. "Oh, how dangerous it is to love someone so." "Don't make me think of you with someone else, Tierney, I can't take it, not when we're like this." travesty /ˈtravΙͺsti/ noun a false, absurd, or distorted representation of something.
