But, as tensions start to rise at the meeting where Valoria shares their awful news, A prophecy is spoken...Pearl of the shellwings is a beloved princess, and she's happy in the shellwing palace. But, when tragedy strikes, She finds herself far from home, caught in a world of heartbreak and pain she never knew. Among all the sadness though, There is friends, hope, and a strange, wonderful new world full of possibilities. To save it, she will have to fulfill the prophecy. Does she have what it takes? Charr smirked at what he had created, joining in with a rhythmic stamp of his feet. "THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE!" he cried over the call of the crowd. Sclera is a dragon, constantly overshadowed by the golden scales of her brother. With no fire of her own and 'the complexion of a damned icewing' she has lived her life in the skywing hatchery as an outcast, surviving on the scraps and pity of others. However when she's finally given the chance to escape the fiery shadows holding her captive and attend Jade Mountain Academy everything changes. Suddenly she has friends, allies and an irritatingly hot frenemy to help her battle her insecurities and the cruel words of others to find her true strength, locked deep within. Rainwind hated lying. Probably because it stemmed deep into her dragonethood. Something she learned and saw as a repeating pattern was that dragons lied all the time. From gems like: "I'm fine," to: "Everything's going to be alright," Rainwind learned at a young age that most dragons were always pretending. Always. Sometimes about how good they were at hunting or one particular flight maneuver or even as far as how they were feeling... Quickclaws glided to a weak landing, his sore body crashing into the stone. A dark-scaled dragon landed next to him and after Quickclaws wiped the blood out of his eyes he looked up to see Speedscar. His mentor helped him up, Quickclaws making an effort to stand. Speedscar checked him for any major injuries and seemed relieved that he was okay. The dark-scaled dragon lifted his snout to look around the bay. The ice sheet that had been freezing the estuary was broken in places where bodies had fallen through. The ice was stained with spatters of blood. A few bodies littered the cliffs, red and gray alike. Quickclaws' heart skipped a beat when he noticed Lightningtail flying towards him over the battlefield. "We won't survive another attack," Speedscar murmured. Quickclaws looked up in surprise to meet his mentor's worried gaze but Speedscar watched the departing SkyWings with a frown. . . . Brisktail spun around. His eyes scanned the leafless bushes behind him and he lifted his snout to scent the air. Dragonscent, he thought, catching the smell as the wind blew it to him. Even his keen eyes couldn't pick up the creature until it moved. A dragon emerged from the bushes. It was white with brown markings crisscrossing its scales. A row of long pearly quills ran from its head to its tail, and the dragon ducked its head so as to not catch its pronged horns on the bramble thorns. He felt his family's eyes on him and shrank internally at the humiliation he was bringing them. But as the general continued, Prion's posture deflated. Every word punctuated his growing horror: "Your failure to act has resulted in the destruction of the palace and the deaths of many nobles. You have been charged with treason and are exiled accordingly by Her Majesty, Queen Chalcedony. If you wish to return to your place in the Kingdom, Her Majesty will grant you pardon... only if you return with the heart of The Blue Comet in your talons." . . . Ghost does not know who he is without Lady Atta. Even though they escaped he still acts like her Light, following her to the Poison Jungle. Faced with a war-torn world and uncertainty everywhere he turns, Ghost wonders if he is cut out for the mission his Alate has in store for him. Until now, he has never had a choice. Now that he does, he isn't sure which option to take. Which one he wants. But it isn't Atta who inspires him to act. It's a young AntWing with vengeance on her mind, a dragon he used to detest because she was a better version of him: angry and with a lot to prove, but with the wherewithal to act. He follows her because that is what he is supposed to do - follow and light the way. It's the only life he knows. --- Even though this story is rated Mature, it is only for the occasional fight scenes which include enough blood and gore to showcase the reality of fighting.
