Yukina is a rare Ice Bender. Yukina was taken in by the Air nomads when she was a child, even though she was never taught the way of air bending, she helped taking care of the children by playing music or performing a little puppet show with her ice bending. They were both found by Katara and Sokka in the Southern Water Tribe, and they were told the hard truth about what happened to the other Air Nomads and the ongoing war against the Fire Nation. When a Fire Nation ship came to Southern Water Tribe, Yukina fought against the soldiers in order to protect the people of the village, when the soldiers used their fire bending on the village, Yukina used her ice bending and the flames froze. That caught Prince Zuko's attention, he never seen a bender freeze fire before or a girl like her before
