Cover art isn't mine! I found it on Pinterest posted by persiiart Hybrids are widely coveted. They have many uses. They can be practical; many have talents that are useful for work. They can be great entertainment for parties. They make great pets; at least, once they're trained. Broken. Owning a hybrid is an incredible show of status, a flex of power and wealth. Unless, of course, you're the hybrid. FLUFF WARNING: Ranchers :0 Warnings: Horrible mistreatment of people #5 in Tangotek - November 27, 2025 #3 in Solidaritygaming - November 30, 2025

Grian is cursed, or at least, that's what it seems. Trapped against his will to play a cruel game and sacrificing himself for his friends, Grian knows little of happiness. Now forced to throw away his very humanity itself, he must learn to become one of the very beings that toyed with both him and his friends. Will the games ever end, or is he fated to a life of pain and anguish until the bitter end? Note: this contains a lot of angst. There are also a few scenes with blood, but nothing too graphic. (I'm pretty squeamish when it comes to blood myself). Prince Ren never asked for a crown, nor the weight of titles. All he wanted was to play music-gentle, aching melodies strummed on delicate string instruments. He preferred lutes carved from silverwood and dark rose, guitars that hummed like whispers in the wind, and a weathered ocarina shaped like a teardrop, soft blue and always warm in his hands. The music was his comfort, his rebellion, and his quiet prayer. When the castle halls echoed with the fury of yet another war-when his family shouted about borders, bloodlines, and broken alliances-Ren would slip away. He would wander down secret paths only he remembered, through the whispering trees and into the Outcast: a forgotten grove hidden beneath a blanket of old magic and ivy. There, surrounded by peace and silence, he built a sanctuary. His instruments were stored in hollowed trunks, carefully wrapped in velvet and tucked away from the wrath of his father, who believed music was weakness and tried to destroy every string Ren cherished. Beyond the grove, just past the moss-covered stones, was his garden-his true kingdom. It bloomed wildly with flowers the color of fire and dusk: deep reds, scarlets, and wine-dark crimsons. Vines heavy with red fruit twisted through the branches, fragrant and sweet, tangled like forgotten lullabies. The air was thick with the scent of crushed petals and ripe berries, warm earth and song. And in the heart of it all, Ren would sit and play. Unbeknownst to him, the sorrow in his songs, the ache in every note, stirred something old and hidden beneath the soil. His music, filled with longing and beauty, began to call to magic itself-something ancient, something listening, something waiting to be found.

Keralis has always loved the sea, which is why he chose to work at the aquarium-a place where he could be surrounded by the beauty of marine life every day. But there's something strange about his connection with the creatures here. Whether it's the gentle glide of an axolotl or the steady pulse of a guardian's eye following his every move, the animals seem inexplicably drawn to him. They don't just respond to his presence; they seek it out, yearning for his attention in ways that baffle his coworkers. One day, Keralis notices an unusual commotion in one of the tanks. A guardian named XB and an axolotl named X are locked in what appears to be an intense standoff-not over territory or food, but over him. Whenever he approaches, they push and jostle for his attention, flashing their colors and stirring up the water in a clear competition. At first, he finds it amusing, but as the rivalry escalates, he begins to wonder: Why do the sea creatures seem so fixated on him? Is it just his natural charm, or is there something deeper-something he has yet to uncover about himself and the bond he shares with the ocean? As Keralis tries to navigate his increasingly chaotic workdays, he starts to notice other odd occurrences-strange symbols appearing in the water, the feeling of unseen eyes watching him, and an undeniable pull toward the depths of the aquarium's largest tank. The more he tries to brush it off, the stronger the connection becomes. Could it be possible that he was meant for more than just caring for these creatures? Could the sea be calling him home? Little does he know, the answers lie beneath the surface, waiting for him to take the plunge.
