Lucas is a mafia boss. Everybody expects him to be ruthless, cold and scary. To the people he seems like a traditional mafia boss. But underneath he is soft boy. Never had a kiss, is still a virgin but pretends he fucked every woman imaginable. Nobody expects the mafia boss to be uncomfortable when a woman touches him. But he is. Arya is the type of person who looks at you and you apologize even though she didn't say anything. She escaped an abusive relationship, does what everybody is afraid to do, doesn't care about other's feelings. And certainly isn't looking for a boy who will wait however long she needs him to wait. Lucas never expected to meet a person like Arya cold, calm and always one step ahead. Arya never expected to meet a boy who acts tough but is a sweet, shy guy. She isn't like every other secretary he ever had. She is the exact opposite. She rather keep up her routine of toxic exes and failing classes than worry about the cute guy in her history class. Lucas Astor is the quiet outcast who no one pays much attention to. People feared Alessandro Rossi. Not the normal kind of fear. Not the kind where people whispered rumors and moved on with their lives. No. They feared him the way people feared death itself. Governments avoided speaking against him. Powerful men lowered their eyes when he entered a room. News channels never mentioned his name unless they wanted accidents to suddenly happen. Alessandro Rossi was power. Darkness. Violence wrapped in expensive black suits. And everybody knew one thing about him: He had no weakness. Until her. ____ "Sir, the meeting is ready." Alex didn't answer immediately. He stood silently beside the massive glass window of his penthouse in New York, one hand inside his pocket while the city lights burned beneath him like stars. Cold. Untouchable. Dangerous. Matteo waited near the door carefully. Even after years beside him, Alex's silence could still make people nervous. Then finally- "Where is she?" His deep voice filled the room quietly. Matteo sighed internally. Of course. Not business. Not weapons. Not the politicians downstairs begging for his partnership. Her. "She's asleep, boss." Alex's eyes softened slightly. Only slightly. Enough to shock anyone who noticed. "She ate?" "Yes." "She took her medicine?" "Yes." "She cried again?" Matteo hesitated for one second too long. Alex slowly turned around. And suddenly the room felt colder. "She missed you," Matteo admitted carefully. A dangerous silence followed. Then Alex grabbed his coat immediately. "The meeting?" Matteo asked. "Cancel it." "But?-" "I said cancel it."

"You are my sister," Louise said. "We share blood," Lucy replied. "That does not change who we are." Cast out by the family who called her mother a mistake and her own existence a burden, Louise has nothing left to lose, until Sebastian Warrington risks everything to prove her wrong. "And yet you stood by," she said, her voice catching, "while my people were spoken of as though they were nothing. I stood outside your father's study three nights ago. I heard what he said, and I heard you answer him. I heard him call people like me chattel and I heard you argue with him for the better part of an hour." Sebastian's grip on her hand tightened. "You spoke well," Louise continued. "You said all the right things," Louise whispered. "But I have spent my whole life listening to men say the right things when they believe no one is listening, only to change their principles when those principles become inconvenient." Her voice trembled. "So tell me, Sebastian. If I am truly the woman you claim to love, what happens the next time your father asks you to choose between me and your name?" Sebastian did not pull away. "I choose you." Louise looked up. "You cannot say that so easily." "I am not saying it easily." His voice was quiet, but there was no hesitation in it. "I have spent years allowing duty, reputation, and expectation to dictate every important decision in my life. I told myself that sacrifice was honourable simply because it was expected of me." He shook his head. "But I will not sacrifice you." Louise's eyes filled with tears. "What if it costs you your title?" "Then it costs me my title." "What if your father turns against you?" "Then I will live with his anger." "What if society turns against you?" Sebastian gave a faint, humourless smile. "Then society may do what it pleases."
