He was nine when the Wilderness stole him. That's what people said. That little Tommy Taylor, a tag-along to his big sister's National soccer tournament, went crazy in those woods. Crazier than the rest. He was an animal, down on all fours, crawling, clawing, wild. What did they do to him? What did he do to them? Already, Tommy was a little odd before the crash. He lived most of his life in his old wolf costume, with few friends and an imagination that ran wild. And after they were rescued, God, he was insane. Tommy Taylor died in those trees, replaced by a wolf in a boy costume. And then, the wolf died, dosed up on prescriptions and pills, replaced again by a quiet man with a past so bloody he changed his name. But be it Tommy, Tom, or the Wolf, the Wilderness wasn't done with him. Maybe it never would be.
