Jack Birdie is a triple A hockey player who moves in with Tyler Prescott (a former NHL super star) and his family. Tyler has a daughter, Evie, whom is Jack's age. Evie is dating Ryan but finds out he cheated on her with her best friend Dawn. So Jack suggests that Evie and him fake date to get back at Ryan and Dawn. They must keep their relationship a secret from Evie's parents though. The lines start to blur however and soon enough Evie can't tell what's real and what isn't between her and Jack.
