Thirteen year old Jack Maybank knows he's nothing. Born a Pogue on Kildare Island with a troublemaker older brother and alcoholic father, Jack knows he's nothing. Destined to end up either rotting in a jail cell or drinking away his sorrows, Jack is thirteen and knows he's nothing. So why not have some fun? Days spent surfing, playing baseball, fighting, and setting fires are the only ways Jack knows to enjoy himself, before life catches up to him and he's got to be an adult. Until one summer, when a hurricane uncovers a sunken boat, it leads Jack and his friends on a winding adventure through Kildare and beyond. Jack learns about his friends, his family, his island, and most importantly: himself. So maybe, just maybe, Jack Maybank could be something.
