In a universe where survival is currency, souls can be measured.
Twenty-three-year-old Malik Cross discovers that every human being carries an invisible balance
known as Soul Points, a supernatural score reflecting the moral weight of their actions. Most
people lose points slowly through lies, greed, and cruelty. Others sell them willingly, trading pieces
of their soul for money, power, or protection.
After a violent encounter leaves Malik clinically dead for ninety minutes, he wakes up able to see
Soul Points glowing inside people. red for debt, white for purity, black for corruption. When a
person's Soul Points reach zero, their soul no longer belongs to them.
Shadowy brokers known as Collectors operate beneath the city, offering desperate people
impossible deals. Politicians, gang leaders, and celebrities secretly maintain massive Soul Point
deficits, kept alive only by exploiting others.
Malik is offered a choice: join the system and profit - or expose it and risk becoming a target
