Remember when we were just two hormone-crazed teenagers? Two kids, just discovering our rebellious souls, facing the world alone. Remember Tre's couch? The memories we made on the worn-down, dusty, ragged thing? Staying up all night, laughing about absolutely nothing was one of our favorite things to do. Remember that night we got drunk for the first time? The sloppy, yet long-awaited kiss we shared? Never would we have guessed that those late drunken nights, full of laughter and talking about almost everything, those cheap-liquor-flavored kisses, that one time I slurred the words "I love you" would take us this far.

How did we get this far? We were young. We were stupid. It wasn't supposed to be this way. It wasn't supposed to last this long. She was searching for an escape. I was looking for hope.
