This book is about Aurora O'hurn and her little brother Sampson. Aurora couldn't find anything else that she could use has self defence so she pulled out her knife and held it at her side. She walked out of her room going down the long hallway that separates her room from everyone else in the house. Aurora turned around the corner to see blood, a trail of blood to be exact, she looked all around for the source of the blood, but she couldn't see where it was coming from. Aurora started to follow the blood trail, there was another bang and a scream to go along with it. Aurora started to walk faster and came to a stop at her parents bedroom. Aurora looked at the blood trail again seeing that it actually did stop at her parents room. Aurora took a deep breath and opened the door to her parents room.
