Eight-year-old Maylee Sokolova was raised in the Red Room, a 'program' where you're nothing but a shadow of what you once were. Karina, who was also raised in the Red Room, is 12 years old and has been through hell and back. She tries her best to help Maylee after realizing they were putting her through the same torture she endured. Karina and Maylee escape together. Maylee seeks comfort and a sense of belonging in the world, while Karina seeks revenge. Her first act of revenge is against Tony Stark, the one she believes killed her parents. But things go south quickly, S.H.I.E.L.D. finds the two and takes them in. Karina mysteriously dies, leaving the eight-year-old all alone with her demons. But little does she know she's not alone, because Natasha Romanoff, an ex-assassin, relates to the kid just a little too much to leave her alone .ᐟ.ᐟ IN MY OPINION THE FIRST TEN OR SO CHAPTERS ARE NOT THE BEST! One after the other. None making it past the the first 15 years of life except subject #05. Deemed a traitor, a deserter after defecting alongside The Winter Soldier in the Spring of 2014.

Seven-year-old Aurora has spent most of her life in the foster care system, bouncing from home to home, leaving behind a trail of anger and broken furniture. She fights everyone - other kids, foster parents, even the social workers. But when she's placed for adoption, it's not with another ordinary family. S.H.I.E.L.D. has made their decision: Aurora is now the legal responsibility of Captain America himself. Neither of them wants this. Steve, forced into the situation by S.H.I.E.L.D., is furious about being saddled with a kid he never asked for. Aurora, convinced that no one ever truly stays, refuses to trust him - or anyone. Their first meeting ends in a screaming match, and things only go downhill from there. But as much as they push each other away, neither one is allowed to leave. And when Steve gets a visit from a friend from his past, stuck together, they'll have to figure out if family is something you're born into-or something you fight for. James Barnes was sixteen years old when his baby sister came into the world, pink and wrinkly and screaming her little head off. And James? James was unimpressed. She was tiny-too tiny. Her hands were no bigger than his thumb, her head barely covered in a fuzz of dark hair. She cried constantly, made Ma exhausted, and stole all the attention in the apartment. And worse? She was completely useless. Couldn't walk, couldn't talk, couldn't even hold her own head up or go get groceries. He had brothers. Brothers he could roughhouse with and throw punches at. This? This little thing wasn't a sibling-she was a baby. And yet, despite all his grumbling, he still found himself staring at her when nobody was looking.
