After Yuuji Itadori's death and unexpected return, Megumi Fushiguro struggles to reconcile his guilt, fear, and unresolved grief. Although Yuuji is alive, Megumi remains emotionally distant, unable to process how deeply Yuuji's loss affected him. When Yuuji asks how Megumi would react if the same tragedy happened again, Megumi avoids answering-until his actions begin to do it for him.
On missions, Megumi repeatedly intervenes before Yuuji can act, prioritizing control and protection over trust. While this keeps Yuuji physically safe, it unintentionally causes him to hesitate and doubt himself. Megumi realizes that in trying to prevent Yuuji's death, he has begun taking away Yuuji's agency.
The conflict forces Megumi to confront the difference between protecting someone and standing in their way. By choosing restraint and trust instead of fear-driven control, Megumi and Yuuji gradually reestablish balance-learning to fight, exist, and move forward side by side rather than apart.
