His eyes were as watery as can be; tears fell beautifully from his waterline like the Niagara Falls. His lips quivered; he made trembled, but gentle breaths, as though he was trying not to scare you. His brows were upturned into a saddened expression.
His slender hands shook on the piano keys; and for what seemed like several minutes, he hesitantly began to a play a mellow tune, refusing to turn his head west to acknowledge your presence in the room.
You listened to the soft melody for a while; and for a split second, you remembered that moment when he first taught you the ways of music. It was such an enchanting moment for the both of you; for different reasons.
You didn't mean to hurt him so terribly. The last thing you wanted was to make this sweetheart of a man cry; but you were determined to make it back to your fiancé.
"I apologize for my carelessness," You started, shifting your feet. You looked to the floor. You weren't used to owning up to your mistakes.
You supposed it was due to your upbringing.
"My blatant disregard for your feelings was unacceptable."
You looked to the side of his face, hoping for some sort of reaction. Your heart ached just saying it; you were hurting him, and it was affecting you horribly.
The piano tune slowed; but never once waned. His eyes became softer at the apology, but the tear stains on his face remained.
"Do you..." He stopped, his soft, sultry voice never once raised when speaking to you.
If you weren't so upset, it would've made you smile. He was such a considerate fellow.
"Still wish to leave?" His tone was somewhat hopeful. In the back of his head, he was praying you'd change your mind. There was nothing he wanted more than to be with you. After all, you were so good to him. The patience you had in dealing with his timidity and awkwardness was astounding.
You stopped, carefully choosing the words. You had to be honest with him. He deserved the truth.
"At the moment, yes. Yes, I do."
