Aurora Hill is an up-and-coming R'n'B singer/dancer who also happens to be part of a rapper Ja Rule's entourage. Aurora is sweet and kind but with a wild side to her, you don't want to cross this girl for real, if you know what's good for you that is. That being said, she is loyal to a fault to those she loves and trusts. Like Jeffrey Attkins, a.k.a. Ja Rule who is responsible for giving her a singing career in the first place. Aurora and Jeffrey are real good friends, and she's supportive of everything that he does. Even this silly beef that is currently going on between Ja and these other two rappers, 50 Cent and Eminem. But when Ja Rule crosses a dangerous line trying to get Eminem to respond to one of his diss tracks, and the angry white rapper finally retaliates, it's the poor Aurora that somehow finds herself caught in the crossfires... The year is currently 2003 and The Source Magazine has just unveiled an Eminem racist tape, a song where he can clearly be heard rapping disrespectfully about black women. Eminem goes on national TV and apologizes, stating that the song in question was made back in 1989 when he was only 16 years old and was in response to him dating a black girl that had cheated on him and broke his heart. Eminem's PR team thinks that him merely apologizing is not enough to salvage his public image, so Paul Rosenberg gets a bright idea to locate Nikki, the girl whom the song was supposedly about and publicly reunite her with his client, and have Nikki say that she understands where Em was coming from and that she forgives him. Nikki however has other plans. All she really wants is to set the record straight once and for all... This story would take place constantly alternating between the year 2003 which is the current time it takes place, and the year 1989 where it had all began... Marshall was a wreck after DeShaun's death. Dealing with his depression by eating, drinking, and using. After he overdoses in December 2007, he starts a gruelling self-detox, in the hopes of finally getting clean. Because of mistreating his body, he has gained a tremendous amount of weight. He is looking for a person who can motivate him and help shed the pounds. Essence Turner, a personal trainer from Sterling Heights, goes to an ice skating rink with her best friend Kaira. There, they run into Nate, his girlfriend Liz, Alaina, Hailie, and Whitney. After a lot of thought and convincing from Nate, Marshall decides to hire Essence as his trainer. She gradually helps him regain his confidence and self-esteem. So will love blossom, or will their relationship remain strictly business?
