When Granmamare unexpectedly returns to Fujimoto's lair (shortly after he passed his test of love and abandoned all humanity to become a sorcerer), the young man doesn't know what to think except than that he's happy to see her back so soon and that OH GODS. HE HAS TO GET HIS HOUSE IN ORDER BEFORE SHE SEES IT. However, when she finally knocks on his door, transformed into a human and looking listless and depressed, not at all like her usual self, her husband becomes worried. "Fujimoto," she says. "I need your help." ****************** Copyright Disclaimer: I do not own the images or characters used in this fanfic. The only reason I use them is for fun, not to make money. Having unexpectedly returned to the village of Tomonoura right after visiting the Spiritual Plane, Granmamare is surprised to hear a children's song being sung by Ponyo, Sousuke, and all of their kindergarten friends. A seemingly innocent song, yet it still brings her back painful memories of why she had to go to the Spiritual Plane in the very first place. ------------- "Oh, Granmamare, Great Goddess of the Ocean and Mercy," the Moon King began in his usual soft and methodical voice, seemingly calm despite the anger that (she knew) reigned boiling beneath his seemingly peaceful and rather gentle surface. "I would like you to explain to us in your very own words why the World and by extension the Moon was nearly destroyed six moons ago, by the senseless actions of your husband and your half-human daughter." ----------------------- Warnings: - Implied/Referenced Rape/Non-con (On Kaguya's relationship with her suitors and the Emperor). - Fantasy & Fictional Setting Racism (From Gods to humans). - Implied/Referenced Child Abuse & Emotional Manipulation (From the Moon Gods to Kaguya). - Implied Sexual Content (On slight innuendos used to describe Granmamare's & Fujimoto's relationship). - Heavy Angst.

When Sousuke's father offers his family a trip along the coast on a borrowed sailboat, Lisa sees an opportunity to learn more about Ponyo's parents, so she decides to invite them too. What initially starts as a cordially awkward relationship between the two couples unexpectedly evolves when they realize they have more in common than they ever thought... It's a shame, though. What they do have in common... is that one of them always leaves, and the other is always left behind, which leads to a very serious conversation about their true feelings. Can they really solve this problem before the trip ends, for the sake of their children? ***************** Yes, this is indeed based on that one angsty meme song... Don't worry, this fic ends on a happier note, I swear 💕 (If you don't know what I'm talking about, listen to 'Two Birds On a Wire' of Regina Spektor, and then search for edits of your favourite OTP ever. Tears, guaranteed...) It's just... I first watched the movie a few months ago, and the idea that there were some interesting parallels between Fujimoto & Granmamare's and Koichi & Lisa's relationships, like how always one of them is far away in the sea and the other is always at home caring of their childrens... ... So yeah... Two Birds on a Wire, except the bird that stay isn't the toxic one here. It's just two overworked single parents that won't tell but still would want a little bit more of reassurance from their always fleeing partner... 💔 I PROMISE IT ENDS WELL, I SWEAR 😅 But it does gets worse before it gets better...
