If you told Izuku Midoriya he'd end up being transferred to another country, he'd probably stare at you like you'd sprouted a second head... and then laugh until he couldn't breathe. Him? Leave France? Leave his district-the one so poor and dangerous the government pretends is just a smudge on the map?
Yeah, sure. That's the kind of thing only a certified lunatic would say.
Nothing in Izuku's life ever pointed toward an opportunity like that. Sure, he studied like a man possessed and pushed past his limits every single day, but none of that adds up to "Congratulations, you're joining one of the best stations in another country!"
He learned the streets the same way other kids learned their ABCs. His fire station was held together with duct tape, stubbornness, and the occasional prayer. Their firetruck looked like it had survived three world wars and was still running out of pure spite. His team was a patchwork of people who mostly knew right from wrong, and they taught him the difference between surviving and doing the right thing.
It was home.
They were the only family he had.
Then came the accident.
And suddenly Izuku was being shipped off to a foreign country, surrounded by a language he absolutely does not speak, working under a Chief who seems to hate him on principle. Izuku can't tell if this is some cosmic stroke of luck-like they just happened to need an EMS firefighter that badly, or if the universe is playing a cruel joke on him.
Either way, one thing is painfully clear:
his life will never be the same.
