Survival isn't her priority, she's just trying to escape the weight of her misery. 𝑺𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒐 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒚𝒂 is logical and methodical. He recognizes Aya as the sister of the patient who died because of his actions.
