María Costa Ramirez just finished her junior year at Gotham University and only has a semester left of studying to become an elementary school teacher. She lived in Gotham till she was nine-years-old until she had to move to San Diego, California due to her dad getting a new job. She returned to Gotham only for school but after the death of her mother she moved to Gotham full time. In which she has to learn how to navigate her way around the city after leaving it for 10 years just for it to seemingly not change. Luckily her boyfriend Jason Todd of four months who was born and raised by Gotham has been her guide! With spring semester just ending, she has her birthday the same weekend! She is turning 21 and goes to the club to celebrate with a group of her friends. Though Jason can't go since he has "work". As she is enjoying the night by letting loose with taking lots of pictures with the digital camera. The club breaks out into chaos as gun shots ring out (is that surprising for Gotham City?) just as they are getting into the peak of the night. As she makes her way out of the club, she finds herself facing a couple of criminals in a dark alley who want a reward that has been set upon her. The city's hot topic Red Hood swoops in to help her from the dangerous situation. Red Hood has been investigating the bounty that has been set on María.
