Susie Earnt is exhausted. After years of being a normal high school teacher-teaching teenagers how to write résumés, survive interviews, and prepare for jobs that may never come-Susie has reached her breaking point. Burned out, underappreciated, and yelled at one too many times, she does the unthinkable: she applies for a new teaching position. That's when the letter arrives. The school is called YGHS. She's never heard of it, but the offer is generous, the tone polite, and hope is a powerful thing. Soon after, a text from a man calling himself Mr. A promises to pick her up personally. Days later, an old limousine pulls up outside her house, and Susie-giddy, nervous, and excited-steps inside. The three-hour drive raises questions. The driver, a fast-talking man named Hermes, insists she's about to have the time of her life. When Susie finally asks what YGHS stands for, Hermes only smiles and says he'll show her. He does. Welcome to Young Gods High School, a massive campus filled with students who look anywhere from eight to twenty years old-and feel far more powerful than any teenager should. Before Susie can process this, she's ushered inside to meet the principal: Mr. A, an anthropomorphic jackal with a human body and a knowing grin. Certain she's died and gone to hell, Susie prepares to faint. Instead, she's handed a classroom. Because Young Gods still need to learn how to function in the modern world-and someone has to teach them how to get a job. Whether she's ready or not, Susie Earnt's first day has begun.
