Following the chaos that broke out amongst the two factions within House Targaryen that evening at Driftmark Annerys Velaryon is betrothed to Aegon Targaryen by her Grandfather with the hope that their union might close the rift within his family. Annerys accepts that for duty she must forgoe love yet the longer she is marrried to Aegon the harder it is to distinguish who her Love and her Duty belong to anymore. When I set out to write a piece about House of The Dragon I started thinking about where a new character might fit in and how her story might have unfolded if she had been in Fire and Blood and rather than setting out to create a piece about Aegon. So whilst love does develop between the two characters Aegon retains his core character traits which we watch Annerys respond to in a patriarchal landscape where she has no allies other than her husband as her family remain at Dragonstone. My plan is to make a complex story with complex characters that can be read with nuance, but perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. Anyway I hope you give it a try.
