Willow Parks life used to be perfect. It was simple, but just how she wanted it to be. That all changed after her moms brain cancer diagnosis. Her paradise crumbled quickly, and reality set it, leaving her alone in a house that no longer feels like home. With her mom living in the hospital full time, bills start to pile up, and life doesn't have the same appeal it used to. Outcast by her peers and planning to end her own life after her mother loses hers, she is determined she has no purpose. What's the point staying in a world when the only person you love has forgotten who you are? Convinced by others she is nothing but a waste of space, she has made up her mind. However, as her mother inches closer to her death bed, a new student, Silas, shows up out of the blue. Who she first dismisses as another jerk the school councilor wants her to befriend, quickly becomes someone much more intriguing.
Silas Anderson moves in with his foster dad, wishing only to leave the past behind. After his life gets set ablaze, he's expelled from school and placed in foster care, none of his relatives wanting to take in such a problematic child. He plans on forgetting the past, restarting his life at his new school, but masking his trauma comes with a cost. Constantly haunted by his mistakes, he slips into a depression, which he works to keep hidden with alcohol, narcissism, and a smile. He's convinced himself that after all he has lost, he is better off living his life alone, fulfilling a future without friends or family. For his sake, as well as everyones around him. However, he's unsure what that future truly looks like. As time goes on, his drinking problem persists, as well as his deteriorating mental state. He is determined not to let anyone in, shutting out the world around him, and not letting his walls down under any circumstances. That is until he gets to know Willow, the student he assumed was a nobody, but turns out may be someone worth changing for.
