"I've been looking for you." There was an unexpected rasp to his voice, a hint of desperation. He stretched out one hand, as if to brush it across my cheek, or perhaps wrap it around my throat. Oddly enough, I didn't know which option frightened me more. *+*+*+* Lily Burdett has an unfortunate gift for getting herself into tricky situations, but her luck is especially bleak the day she finds herself in the destructive path of the city's premier supervillain. When he grabs ahold of her, she reacts without thinking and stabs him twice in the shoulder, only surviving the encounter thanks to a nearby hero who intervenes on her behalf. Unfortunately, her villain vows to get even. Everywhere she turns, he's there, and with each bizarre encounter more doubts fill her head as to his true intentions. *enemies to lovers/slowburn

I live in a pretty screwed up world. I mean, we all do, but mine's a little more screwed up than your average American city. First off, I have that cliché sort of crush on my best friend. The second part of that cliché is that he's interested in every other girl but me. Second, we have superheroes. A lot of them. Flying everywhere like annoying insects, teleporting like it doesn't scare the crap out of the rest of us, defeating bad guys like they're the new Mr. Incredible. The whole works. The third thing is, I'm one of those superheroes. My name is Kiera Knight, but the rest of the world knows me as Shadow. _________________________ Kiera Knight has been saving Cryptic City from her nemesis, Blaze, for two years now. As soon as she thinks she's got him under control, the wildfire spreads chaos through both of her lives-as Shadow and Kiera. But she soon finds out that masks can't hide every secret, and she might have been helping guard a secret that could put Cryptic City in ruins. "I hate supervillains. But after being a superhero, I think I'd prefer to be a supervillain now." _________________________ (I seriously didn't even think of Keira Knightley when I made up her name. Just thought I'd let you know.)

I should be dead. At least, that's what the government officials told me in the super-secret lab where I woke up strapped to a mattress in a windowless room...Sound problematic to anyone else? Like I told the psychos experimenting on me, I've got zero clue how I got my new powers, but I'm sure-as-shit not going to let them turn me into a deadly weapon (or squeeze me into a spangly jumpsuit). Problem is, I'm not so great at controlling whatever the hell it is I've become...Not to mention I'm on the run from my country for a teensy-weensy act of treason while being chased by a shadowy masked mute who may or may not have superhuman abilities too (but is definitely stupid hot under his off-putting disguise). I'm only 25 and my career choices have been limited to hero or villain. WTF?!? Indie Author Fangirl Moments: 1. SHORTLISTED FOR A 2021 Watty (WTF?!?) 2. A FEATURED STORY ON WATTPAD'S SUPERHERO LIST: GIRL POWER! 3. FIRST PLACE WINNER IN THE 2021 PUNK ROCK AWARDS, ACTION & ADVENTURE CATEGORY

A tale in which a thief with a double life grudgingly becomes a hero. ➳ Liana Mason has a life anyone would envy. Nobody suspects that the once orphaned girl grew up to be the city's notorious vigilante. She has been fine walking on the edge of morality for much of her life, but when an assassin arrives in her city she's forced to play a role she never imagined she'd choose: hero. A Robin Hood retelling. Trigger Warning: This contains themes that may be triggering for some readers (violence, sexual assault, etc). Cover designed by Ray Gardener

I was sitting on a bench at a bus stop, with no idea how I got there or why, only that I was supposed to be there. My head hurt and my mind was fuzzy, and I couldn't remember anything. Frantically, I searched my brain for something that would make sense of the situation. This is what I came up with: My name was Ella. I was female. That's where the personal information ended. I was waiting for a buss that would take me where I belonged, where there would be other kids like me. That's where the situational information ended. I had abilities that no one could no the full extent of, and if another kid found out, someone would gladly kill me because of it. I was in danger at all times. Lastly, I could control the elements. [Formerly Featured!] Coming back from a vacation, with a gun pointed at her head was definitely not what Jean Saunders expected. Especially seeing a man flying around in the air, claiming to be the city's superhero. At least he wasn't wearing that embarrassing spandex outfit. Alas, due to her capability for getting into trouble, the city's superhero eventually recognises her and not in a good way, at all. Catching a superhero's attention is never a good thing. -------------------------- Opening and closing his mouth, he made some gestures as if he was trying to speak but he couldn't find the words to convey his message. "...what are you?" He finally managed to speak and I blinked my eyes at him. The heck? Does he think I am some sort of...alien? It's not like I'm some kind of weird species! What the heck does he think I am? "I'm human!" I said, narrowing my eyes at him. --------------------------
