This story follows Alador and Darius, if they had never been separated. Alador manages to escape a life marked by abuse, but his freedom comes at a price. Forced to abandon his name, he takes on a new identity as Mr. Deamonne and second leader of the abomination coven. Darius, who once dreamed of this future, finds himself forced to uncover the rot staining the palace walls after losing his mentor. Alongside his husband and Eberwolf, he will lead the first conspiracy against Belos's throne. Alador's past will return to reclaim what he left behind, dragging with it a fire that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear. The future threatens to shatter Darius, but he will have to remain standing in order to build a tomorrow, even if he loses himself along the way. The Deamonnes will be forced to face not only Belos's empire, but the scars they carry within.

Both adults stared at each other. "Raine. I don't hate you.." She said under her breath. She kept thinking of him.
