Sa'Lani Monee Jeffries has always been the thick girl who gets overlooked or played. At 27, she's done with love, focused on stacking her money as a nail tech and minding her business. But when a fine, chocolate, six-foot-three gangsta with a low voice and dangerous reputation starts showing up at her job, all of that changes. Kaizer "Kai" Rashaad Wynn isn't the type of man she ever wanted. He's quiet, mean to everybody but her, and runs the streets with a heavy hand. Yet when he looks at her like she's the only woman in the world, Sa'Lani finds herself letting her guard down piece by piece. What starts as playful flirting turns into late-night phone calls, expensive gifts, and nights that leave her body aching for more. But falling for a man like Kai means stepping into a world of hood politics, jealous exes, and enemies who will use anything-including her-to get to him. When street drama hits too close to home, Sa'Lani is forced to decide if she can love a man who lives by a code that could get him killed... or if loving him will be the very thing that breaks her heart. Because Kai doesn't just want her body-he wants all of her. And when a real gangsta falls in love with a thick girl, he ain't letting go, no matter who has to get out of the way.

Shannon Cole has always survived by noticing what others miss. Numbers stick. Faces linger. Conversations don't fade. In the hood, that kind of mind doesn't stay unnoticed-it gets used. Shannon has become a quiet resource, passed between crews whenever something needs remembering, calculating, or confirming. He tells himself it's temporary. Just helping. Just staying afloat. Until everyone wants him. As gangs begin circling closer, access to Shannon turns into competition-and then into risk. Because when too many people want what you know, someone eventually decides you're too valuable to share. Tiger Laurent doesn't compete. He decides. Tiger runs things with calm precision, and when he claims Shannon, it isn't curiosity-it's control. Pulled out of circulation and placed under Tiger's watch, Shannon finds himself safer than he's ever been-and more trapped than he imagined possible. Protection blurs into possession. Use starts to feel permanent. And the more indispensable Shannon becomes, the harder it is to tell whether he's being kept alive... or quietly erased.

Jasani is a walking contradiction - tough but tender, loyal yet self-destructive, a devoted father with a past full of broken promises. When he's given another shot at love with Camron - a man who sees through every wall he hides behind - Jasani is forced to confront the version of himself he's been running from. But healing doesn't come easy. Between old flings, unresolved trauma, complicated co-parenting with his ex, and the ever-present temptation to fall back into old habits, Jasani finds himself spiraling. And when a reckless night with a familiar mistake threatens to destroy everything he's built with Camron, Jasani must choose: keep sabotaging the love he craves... or finally fight for it. This is a story about messy love, emotional vulnerability, the cost of betrayal, and the painful path to redemption. Heartbreaking, raw, and passionate - if you've ever loved the wrong person, tried to fix the right one, or battled your own demons in silence, this story will hit you where it hurts.
