"I don't repeat myself, Elena." His voice was calm. Controlled. Dangerous.
I stood frozen in the middle of his office, my fingers tightening around the edge of my dress. "And I don't follow orders."
His jaw ticked.
For a second, I thought I had crossed a line I couldn't come back from.
Then he moved.
Slow. Calculated.
Terrifying.
Before I could react, his hand wrapped around my wrist, pulling me closer-too close.
My breath caught.
"Careful," he murmured, his voice dropping just enough to send a shiver down my spine. "You're in no position to challenge me."
I tilted my chin up, forcing myself to meet his gaze even though my heart was betraying me.
"And you're in no position to control me."
Silence.
Heavy. Tense.
Alive.
His grip tightened-just slightly. Not enough to hurt.Just enough to remind me he could.
"You're carrying my child," he said, each word precise. "That gives me every right."
My chest rose and fell unevenly. "No," I whispered. "It doesn't."
