**will be told in Lottie's Point of View** Charlotte-known to most as Lottie-was a guide dog with a heart full of purpose and paws trained to navigate the world for her human, Glacier. Glacier, blind since childhood due to Retinoblastoma, relied on Lottie for everything: safety, freedom, confidence. For three years, they were inseparable-more than a team, they were soulmates bound by trust. But Lottie's career ended abruptly on a day that began with joy. While playing with a spark of puppy-like excitement, Lottie misjudged her movements around Button, a senior Husky-Labrador cross with little patience left for games. In a moment of startled instinct, Button attacked. The injury to Lottie's leg was severe. Despite every effort to save it, the vets had to amputate. The loss of her leg meant an early retirement. Lottie could no longer serve as Glacier's guide, and the sudden shift in her role left her adrift. She watched from the sidelines as Glacier learned to walk again-this time, with a new guide dog by her side. Aphina was young, full of raw energy and inexperience. But Lottie saw in her a familiar flicker-the potential to be great. Though no longer wearing the harness, Lottie found a new calling: guiding the guide. She took Aphina under her wing, teaching her the rhythms of Glacier's life, the silent language of trust, and the quiet strength needed to lead without doubt. What began as tragedy transformed into a new purpose. Lottie was no longer the eyes for Glacier, but the soul behind the scenes-the mentor, the memory keeper, the quiet presence reminding everyone what true service looks like. This is a story about resilience, purpose beyond circumstance, and the enduring bond between a guide dog and her person. Even with three legs and a retired harness, Lottie still leads-in a different way, but with the same steady heart. ⸻ Copyright and trigger warnings are inside.

"Not all heroes wear collars. Some just stay quietly by your side." Shelby - The Quiet Guardian She was born a pup with soft eyes and a stronger heart-always following Button, her mentor and guide. But by Book Four, Shelby isn't just learning anymore. She's leading. While Button turns to care for the younger girls, Shelby takes it upon herself to protect the older ones-Glacier, Scarlet, Elsa, and Winter-each living with their own kind of visual challenge. She never needed words to comfort them. She just knew. In Book Five, Shelby meets Lottie, a guide dog with wisdom in her gaze. Their bond is short but unforgettable. Not long after, illness finds Shelby, and she quietly steps back-still watching, still loving, even in silence. She never meets Aphina, who arrives years later. But her story is passed down like a legend, and her memory lives on in every soul she ever touched. And when she finally crosses the Rainbow Bridge, she runs straight into Button's waiting paws. Because some guardians never really leave. They just watch from beyond. ----- ⚠️ Trigger Warnings (Please Read Before Continuing): This story contains sensitive themes, including: • Pet illness and loss • Death of a beloved animal companion • Disability representation (including visual impairments) • Mental health struggles • Violence (non-graphic, human-related) • Swearing and emotional intensity • LGBTQIA+ characters and themes This story proudly supports the LGBTQIA+ and disability communities. **Book one of Elisabeth Lillian Harrison's story pre-Mill Brook** Elisabeth has never known what it means to feel safe. Orphaned from a young age, sight-impaired, and living with PTSD, she grows up in a house that never feels like home. Her mother, stepfather, and even her own sister treat her as though she doesn't belong - as if her existence is an inconvenience they'd rather forget. After losing her father, the only parent who ever loved her, when she was just one year old, Elisabeth's life is shaped by silence, fear, and survival. But what happens when an unexpected chance at safety appears? Can Elisabeth finally stop running, or will the trauma of her past follow her wherever she goes? Some scars fade. Others refuse to be forgotten. Trigger Warnings: Child abuse, neglect, PTSD, bereavement, disability
