Maisie Howe's landlord shows up on her door step with an eviction notice and an offer: she can stay free of charge, so long as she works as a gardener at his father's estate. She's given only one instruction: do not, under any circumstances, attract his father's notice. And how hard could that be?
Although she never sees any faces in the many windows of the estate, she can't shake the feeling that she's being watched. Coincidentally, Maxime can't help but feel that he enjoys watching.
Trespassing, he can forgive. Going somewhere he can't see her? A step too far.
When he spoils their game of cat and mouse, Maisie makes a liar of herself. She broke her landlord's only condition. She attracted his father's attention, and not only that, but she can't stop thinking about him. She wants a man she can't have.
And it sucks, but what's a girl gonna do when the rent's due?
