Maj. Haider Ali Hamdani: An honest and courageous military man. A gruff yet affectionate father. In his eyes, he's the one to blame for his daughter's trials. Hala Ali Hamdani: A makeshift mother. Grew up too fast, too soon. Hafsa Ali Hamdani: Hope. Hashim Ali Hamdani: Achiever. Book enthusiast. Hasham Ali Hamdani: All that's left of what's been stolen. Rooh Afza addict. This book is a hefty collection of events occurring in the Hamdanis' lives. The story is set back in the 1980s, in old Pakistan. (For foreign readers, the narration/description is written in English while the dialogues are in Roman Urdu. However, English subtitles are provided.) Ps The story and the characters present in this book belong solely to me, except for the photos used now and then. I've most likely taken most of them from Pinterest unless I say otherwise. In a world where bonds are tested and hearts carry unspoken burdens, "Hasret - The Longing of Four Brothers" unravels the journey of four souls bound by blood, yet scattered by fate. The eldest, once the pillar of the family, walks away-misunderstood and wounded-leaving behind silence and unanswered questions. The second, barely an adult himself, steps into shoes too large, becoming the anchor, the protector, the silent warrior who keeps the family from falling apart even when he himself is breaking. The third, caught between loyalty and pain, becomes a rebel-not by choice, but by fear. He builds walls around his heart, believing detachment is the only way to survive. He yearns for his elder brother, but masks his longing behind anger and silence, terrified that love, once again, will leave him hollow. And the youngest-just seventeen-is a mirror of their chaos. Too young to understand, too old to ignore, he drowns in the storm of emotions he doesn't know how to name. Torn between the roles, he watches, listens, and waits-for healing, for clarity, for the day they'll all be whole again. At the heart of it all lies a silent Hasret-a deep, aching longing. A longing not just for the return of the elder brother, but for the return of something far greater: the lost warmth of their once-whole family. Though none speak it aloud, the ache binds them, shaping their choices, their silences, their love. This is a tale of brotherhood, of broken hearts and healing hands, of duty, loss, and the quiet hope that one day... home will feel like home again.

Excerpt I got a peace offering. And Ice cream. The message popped up again. His Bhaiyu was making it hard to ignore. Darwaza khol, yaar. Mogambo uth jayenge. Ansh glared at the French windows. Even desperate his Bhaiyu would not quit the name calling. Shall I leave? Ansh did not respond. Okay! Leaving the ice-cream outside. Take it before it melts. Ansh did not respond, but his heart skipped a beat. He wanted to meet his Bhaiyu. He was even a little desperate, but he did not wish to give in so soon. So, he counted until 100 and then slowly made his way outside. Iris hopped down from the bed and followed behind him. Ansh opened the doors with a big heart only to find a basket filled with dumb yellow smile squishes and a big tub of ice-cream in between. A few CD's were tucked into the basket almost as an afterthought. The game CD's that Ansh wanted. Ansh glared at the basket. "Do minute nahi rukh saktey they kya?" He muttered under his breath. "You made me wait 17 minutes, kidoo" A voice whispered in his ears. Ansh almost screamed but Nirbhay's palm closed around his mouth before any sound could slip. Ansh's heart thudded in his chest. His Bahiyu had almost given him a heart attack. Nirabhay grabbed the basket and slipped inside with Ansh, and shut the door behind him.
