He sat on the floor, shaking-eyes swollen, fists clenched. Ansh's sobs echoed off the marble walls, soft at first, then cracking like thunder.
"Why did I think this was love?" he whispered. "Why did I believe in you?"
Beyond the half-closed door, a man stood still. Listening. But not moving.
Not even an inch.
The sound of heartbreak didn't move him-he had trained himself too well.
"This marriage is duty," he whispered to himself. "Nothing more."
And so, he walked away.
Leaving the boy alone-protected, married...
But unloved.
