In the city of Blackford, a sadistic serial killer is abducting young women, subjecting them to brutal rape before murdering them and leaving their bodies abandoned in public places. The police are left with no leads, no clear pattern, and no answers. Detective Vincent Reid, a young but experienced investigator, is appointed to head the case. He's joined by Lara Mitchell, a rookie detective eager to prove herself despite the overwhelming nature of the crimes. As the killings continue, the two detectives must confront the horror of the crimes while navigating their own personal demons. There are no cryptic messages, no hidden clues-just brutal violence and a rising body count. The killer is a methodical predator who has left no trace behind, and each murder is more horrifying than the last. As the investigation grows darker, Vincent and Lara discover a terrifying connection between the victims and a powerful, corrupt network in the city. They must race against time to stop the killer before another woman is taken, while grappling with the disturbing realization that the person responsible may be someone closer to them than they ever imagined.

What if Catherine Morland was actually onto something? What if her Gothic novels had actually prepared her to encounter the atrocities of the real world? What if General Tilney's crimes were much worse than just being a snob and a heartless social climber? What if Northanger Abbey kept a terrible secret? Follow Catherine as she explores the Gothic Abbey and encounters witnesses, looking for clues. ************ This chaptered short story is a rewriting of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey" I wrote while I was tutoring a highschool student and she had to write a detective story and she hated it and I proposed we do a "Catherine solves the mystery" rewrite and she was onboard and we ended up with her version and my version (this is my version). (I lost the end of my original text so I'll have to re-invent it...) Some of the dialogues are from Jane Austen's novel and/or Jon Jones's film adaptation but most of the text is a retelling (and departure from the original) in my own words. In Honor of SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE By PRINCE NIOGI Preface In the time-honored tradition of detective fiction, I offer this tale not merely as a story of crime and deduction, but as a humble tribute to the ingenuity and brilliance of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The streets of London, shrouded in fog and mystery, have long served as the stage for tales of observation, intellect, and human complexity. This account, "The Case of Orange Vial," is written for the lovers of meticulous reasoning and suspense, for those who delight in the subtle details hidden in plain sight, and for the spirit of Sherlock Holmes that continues to inspire generations of readers and writers alike. It is my hope that, as you journey through these pages, you will not only follow the twists and turns of the investigation but also appreciate the craft of observation and deduction the very legacy that Doyle has left us. May this story entertain, challenge, and honor the art of the detective.

Cursed with clairvoyance, Millicent Sinclair has been seeing ghosts for years. More annoyingly, she can hear them, speak with them, and worst of all, feel their clammy, cold touch. She takes no nonsense from the dead (or the living, for that matter), but an overnight stay at the haunted 'Black Swan Inn' leads to more than she bargained for. A short story for Christmas. ~Selected by Crimson Peak (sponsored Reading List 'Historical Horror')
