"Nowhere is safe, you know?" Foster homes, orphanages, replacement homes, you name it, Georgia Monroe has never fit in anywhere. From a young age, she has only known that running away and constantly losing track of those that are supposed to care for her, is a way of survival. A way to escape. She hardly knows her real name, as people are constantly trying to change it, whilst all she wants to do is fit in. It's like she knows that she has a real family out there, no matter how many times people try to tell her that they either didn't want her, before explaining all the reasons why no one would want her, or that they all died, and she will never know them. For years, Georgia has tried to decipher the difference between words thrown at her in rage and due to alcohol, but as the years go by, it is harder to see the difference. It's harder not to believe the words. The words of her family not wanting her and that they may be dead, probably as a result of her sake. All she wants, is a pair of safe arms that will take the stress of her shoulders, for a little while. Only, she doesn't know how great of a deal she is asking of those that are her family. She will never understand the depth of the work that her real family has been intertwined, and maybe not living with them, has kept her alive. Has made her a stronger person than she would have been if she had grown up with them from the beginning. Georgia, though it may feel like to her, isn't the only one that has suffered. Though her brothers home may be idealistic and fit for a king and queen in her eyes, it is far from it. Behind all the luxury and money spilling from the walls, it hadn't been like that their entire lives. It wasn't easy to attain such wealth without risking a few lives here and there, including Georgia's, their sister. __________________________________________________________________ Started: 11.10.21 Finished: 21.08.22 Rewritten: 17.08.25 -

She was never supposed to come back... At least, that's what her parents believed. They erased her, as if she had never existed. But her older brothers never forgot her. They searched tirelessly, until they finally found her - and now she is dragged back across the ocean, forced to leave her friends behind and step into a house built on lies and fury. Parents who still despise her. Brothers who would give anything to protect her. All rights protected. Please do not steal my work, My book follows the usual line of the long lost mafia princess like many books here with the brothers finding her and taking her back. But my story has it's own twists and turns that I would like to protect. Thank you for listening everyone. If you would like to borrow ideas, please ask for permission first. At sixteen, Ayana feels like a shadow in her own home. Ever since her twin sister, Amara, was kidnapped at the age of six, Ayana has lived in the background of a family consumed by grief. Her parents, shattered and broken, turned all their energy into searching for Amara, while Ayana-still right there-was left to raise herself. Her older brothers, once protective and loving, grew distant, cold, and buried in their own pain. Over time, Ayana became invisible-just another ghost in a house full of sorrow. Craving control and desperate to matter, Ayana began slipping into the shadows of the city, drawn to the only world that seemed to see her: the underworld. What started as survival turned into power. By seventeen, Ayana had carved out her place in the darkest corners of society. Ruthless, calculating, and unafraid to get her hands dirty, she rose to lead one of the most dangerous and powerful mafia groups in the region. Her name became one that people feared-and respected. But everything shifts when, after a decade, Amara is found-alive. The news shatters Ayana's carefully built empire. Suddenly, the family that ignored her for years starts to notice her again. They want to reconnect. They want to heal. But Ayana isn't the same girl they left behind. She's colder, harder, and used to being in charge. She doesn't need them anymore-at least, that's what she tells herself. As Amara struggles to adjust to the world she was stolen from, Ayana must decide: can she let go of the person she became to survive, or is it already too late to return to the girl she used to be? Because sometimes, when you've lived in the darkness too long, the light burns.
