Many things may seem impossible in this world. Like time stopping when you need it to, like convincing the Sorting Hat it was wrong. Like trusting someone you were raised to loath, being seen for who you are beneath your name, beneath your blood status, beneath the house you belong in. Undoing years of prejudice, turning rivalry into something softer. Finding home in the last place you'd look. And yet, some impossibilities are simply waiting for the right moment to happen. And sometimes, the most impossible things are the ones that change you the most.
Ours was meant to be one of those. Perhaps we would've been past all those years of despising each other if we hadn't listened to those telling us from day one that the other was not our friend. But I guess you cannot blame an eleven year old for being cautious when everyone else were luring you into these beliefs.
This is the story of how the impossible happened anyway. Nothing is, unless you believe so. It was all in our hands, and maybe it only took one single conversation to undo it all.
