hey everyone !! i orginally wrote the idea for this fic on tiktok, my account is "theangelofthursday", basically i have never ever played CoD, only read fics about it, i thought ao3 would be better for a fic like this, but i do not have an account, and are too lazy to make one, so i posted on here where i do. (yes i know you can post annoymously on ao3). Anyway this is my first CoD fic like ever, i will probably include very very small amounts of Gaelic and Scottish slang as i do not want to get any of the terms wrong 😭. Summary: Soap is a valued, loyal and useful member of the 141. His only flaw? Being in love with his superior, Simon "Ghost" Riley. Just when Soap thinks the situation can't get any worse.. A certain someone comes back into the crew and latches onto Ghost. What will he do now? Fight for him? Or die trying? Only time can say.

The new guy in the 141, Soap, doesn't have a filter when it comes to flirting. Ghost has no idea how to cope with that. He can't afford to lose face in front of his peers, so he decides to just... play along. The problem is, they keep getting closer, so Soap decides they must be dating. In fact, it is so obvious, everyone agrees- everyone but oblivious Ghost. He is just happy to make a friend, to finally be able to share his past with someone, until he slowly realizes his feelings are growing into much more than friendship. Often away from loved ones for extended amounts of times, dropped in the middle of nowhere, with intelligence that could crumble life and society as we know it today or could launch another world war with only your closest battle buddies being there to support you; sometimes it was someone you had only known for six months being on your six and trusting they were going to get you out alive. Being killed or captured was always a threat and work was never easy. Missions often went sideways, and you sometimes only had the supplies in your bag with the clothes on your back. Blood often stained the hands of the members of the 141, they flirted with the grim reaper often, and any distractions could risk your life on the field.
